Charles E. Wisswell, age 91 of Port Huron died March 3, 2010 in Port Huron Hospital after a brief illness. He was born February 4, 1919 in Port Huron to James and Sophie Wisswell, the youngest of seven children. He married Betty Hobden on May 25, 1940 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on June 7, 1985. He married Charlotte Nugent on September 17, 1986 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1999. Charles served his country during WWII on the Destroyer, USS Thomas E. Fraser. He was a charter member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, and was an active member of Ross Bible Church. He worked at Ogden & Moffett Trucking Company for 30 years. Charles received his G.E.D. at the age of 80. He also enjoyed attending Heartlink meetings at Port Huron Hospital. He is survived by two children, Sandra Krainz of Shelby Township, and Gary (Nancy) Wisswell of Port Huron, 5 grandchildren, Cherie (Robert) Pickelhaupt, Kim (Dan) Dooley, Alan (Rena) Perry, Rebekah (Ethan) Potter, and David (Shannon) Krainz, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, William Charles Wisswell, son-in-law, Brian Krainz, 3 brothers, Ray, Robert, and James “Red” Wisswell, and 3 sisters, Virgilene Ringler, Ethel Lawrence, and Viola Dahlgren. A funeral service will take place at 10 AM Saturday in Ross Bible Church with Pastor Steve Scott officiating. A Graveside committal service will follow in Lakeside Cemetery under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the Smith Family Funeral Home – North, 1525 Hancock Street, and at church on Saturday beginning at 9 AM.
