Name: Ralph W. Hunter Date: July 25th, 2010 Obituary: Ralph W. Hunter, age 85 of Port Huron Township died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in St. John River District Hospital after a long illness. He was born October 25, 1924 in Goshen, Indiana to Thomas and Frances Hunter. He married Verda Donaghy on September 6, 1946 in Tennessee. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1989. Ralph worked for 25 years at Mueller Brass where he was a Supervisor. He also worked in the Maintenance Department for Port Huron Township. Ralph served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Hammond Post 8. He is survived by 2 children, Wanda Brewer, and Larry (Debbie) Donaghy both of Port Huron Township, 7 grandchildren, Janene (Jim MacDonald) LaChance, Renee (Lance) Stawecki, Richard Brewer, John Foshie, William and Russell Donaghy, and April (Frederick Rouse) Donaghy, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Jane Hunter, and a special family friend, Frank Roberts. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Helen Smith, Elizabeth Shank, Dorothy Hunter, Rosemary Pangburn, and a brother, Richard Hunter. A funeral service will take place at 11 AM Wednesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home – South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. Max Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Pallbearers will be John Foshie, Ed Neaves, Jim MacDonald, Richard Brewer, Lance Stawecki, and Frederick Rouse. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
